The Quetzal is the most beautiful bird in the whole world!
It is the national bird in my country, Guatemala, and it is sacred!
Meaning it cannot be hunted or kept as a pet.
The legend says that the Quetzal used to be all green and was the spirit of Tecun Uman, a Mayan prince. He fought against the Spaniards and during his last battle, his blood splattered on the bird's chest.
I dedicate this to all my Guatemalan brothers and sisters and most of all, my mom!
